I’m Marty, a visual artist and designer creating under the name

BACKGROUND

Raised in the south suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, my art journey started late in high school and hasn’t stopped since. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Illinois State University, then moved to San Francisco to receive my MFA in Visual Development from the Academy of Art University.

PRACTICE

My work moves between painting, visual development, graphic design, and ongoing studies. Across each form, I’m drawn to memory, pressure, identity, symbolism, and the strange weight of becoming. Whether I’m building a finished painting, designing a character, developing a visual system, or studying color and light, I’m always chasing work that feels real, emotional, and alive.

THE SHIFT

Before this current identity, I created under the name STUDIOMMARTY. That chapter still matters to me, but Mith the Ghost represents where the work is now: more focused, more personal, and more connected to the kind of artist I’m becoming.

WHY I MAKE

I create because it helps me feel connected to myself, to the world around me, and to something I cannot always explain. The work gives shape to what I carry. Through what I make, I hope someone else can feel seen or reminded that they are still becoming too.
